On
February 20, 1942, Butch O'Hare single-handedly shot down five enemy aircraft
and saved a carrier group from severe damage. He did it in a plane
that was low on fuel and with no expectation of even surviving the ordeal.
For his heroism, he received the Congressional Medal of Honor and was the
Navy's first Ace of World War II.
What makes this story even more impressive is that Butch's father had
been Al Capone's lawyer. Easy Eddie had sold Capone out to the government
so he could clear his name and his son could have a chance to live a good
life away from the evil influences of crime. In fact, Easy Eddie had
negotiated that Butch would be able to get into the navel academy as part
of his deal with the government!
f his deal with the government!
If Butch hadn't been there to perform his heroism, many men would have
died. God had prepared him to be there long before there was even a thought
of that war.
God is preparing work in and for you. "For we are God's workmanship, created
in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for
us to do" (Eph. 2:10).
While it is likely that your work will go unnoticed by the world, the
audience that matters is Jesus Christ. Will you seek and be faithful to His
direction for you life this coming year?

4:2) (Colossians
