The
cars seemed to stretch on for miles ahead on the mid-state Florida highway. It
isn't uncommon to have bumper to bumper traffic going at interstate speeds, but
this mess wasn't moving. I gritted my teeth and thought about how tired I was
after a day vacationing with the family. They all could sleep restfully while
I continued to stare down the red and white lights.
Occasionally the line crept forward a few feet. I lamented my fate,
wondering why I had to put up with this great inconvenience. I muttered "I just
don't understand!" under my breath several times.
I could see flashing lights in the distance but arriving at that point, there
was nothing to see. No more flashing lights either.
It's frustrating when life comes to a standstill without explanation. If
it is my life, I should at least get to know why things are messed up! Right?
The Bible says, "God causes all things to work together for good" (Romans
8:28). I must trust the One in charge of the road. The Lord, from His high view,
can see all that needs seen and direct all that needs directing. If God feels
it necessary to slow me down for a while, He knows what He is doing. You and
I will get where God wants us in His timing.
