A
church choir director was greatly distressed at the rehearsals for the Christmas
concert. At every rehearsal at least one of the choir members was absent. When
they finally reached the last rehearsal he announced: "I want to publicly thank
the pianist for being the only person in this entire church choir to attend each
and every rehearsal during the past two months."
At this, the pianist rose, bowed, and said. "It was the least
I could do, considering I won't be able to be at the concert tonight." Faithfulness
is hard to come by these days. So many things drag us away from what is best.
However, God is always faithful!
Paul explained to the Romans in verse
3 that even if some don't believe, God's
faithfulness is not nullified. God was faithful to Abraham even when his faith
wavered about the promise of a son. God was faithful to David in spite of his
passions and to Solomon despite his straying.
God has always been faithful to supply the grace and mercy He said
He would. Most importantly, God was faithful in sending His Son even as was implied
in Genesis
3:15 . He has been faithful to supply a way for
you and me to have eternal life.
Will you be faithful to the Lord in the new year? Resolving to be
faithful now is the start of being so later!
