As a child, I had an educational toy called an Erector
Set. The mostly metal parts looked like tiny construction girders, bolts, and
nuts. There were a few sharp edges, little tiny parts, and things that I am sure
are banned in toys today. I had tremendous fun with that set and don't ever remember
getting hurt by it.
One frustration with any such toy is not having enough time
to complete what you start to build. There you are - near the top of a skyscraper
you're sure could hold you - when Mom puts an end to the project by sending the
chief engineer to bed! With enough parts, time, and space, I could be LIVING in
my creation now!
Did you know that God intends to complete what He has started
in us? Our Scripture discusses the subject of God working in us through trials
or testing. Testing produces endurance (Verse
3), which helps to complete and perfect us (Verse
4). God is constantly in the process of doing that in
our lives.
The words "complete" and "perfect" mean,
"brought to an end" and "made whole." I wish I could have done that with my Erector
Set! Instead, I lost pieces and ran out of time. However, God's efforts are never
fruitless, and He is never in a hurry.
Don't worry that God is going to get called away to do something
else before you are completed!

Standard Version unless otherwise noted.
