Our eighteen-year-old daughter had to fend off a marriage proposal the other day. Seems that a young man in the hallway that she had known for almost five years accosted her with the big question.  He was very sincere and I think Christa was a bit startled by the proposal.
He was obviously very taken with her, but she had to say no without giving it much thought.  He wanted an explanation. After all, he loved her!  She still hasn't been able to totally convince Daniel that she just can't marry her little five-year-old brother!
I am personally very pleased that the little guy thinks so much of his big sister.  Family love isn't always so sweet or loyal.

King David sought to show a loyalty and special mercy and grace to his deceased friend Jonathan's descendant Mephibosheth.  Jonathan had been closer to David than any of his own brothers.  It would have been culturally correct to have him killed as a grandson of his enemy Saul.  David instead chose to show him mercy and grace.
Our family relationships should be of highest priority. A reading of Ephesians 5:22 - 6:4 shows that God has some directions for family relationships. The Bible records dozens of families illustrating those principles.
God wants you to make family relationships a priority. After all, He gave His own Son so that you could join His family!
