On a regular basis, with the help of my computer and some software, I take the time to reconcile my bank account. Webster defines "reconcile" as "to check (a financial account) against another for accuracy." The bank is almost never wrong and the reconciling process usually reveals something I am lacking. If I were certain I was always right, reconciling would not be necessary. But I am human and make mistakes. Another definition from Webster for reconcile is, "to restore to friendship or harmony." In all of the definition variations the same basic issue is revealed - things do not line up like they should for the best performance and need to be reconciled. To fix the problem, something needs to give. Paul wrote of how God made it possible for us to be back in line with the Heavenly Father. We couldn't do it in our own power, so "God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ" (v. 19 NIV). Paul further explained that as Christ's ambassador, I am therefore to be a reconciliation spreader. Have you got things lined up with God today? Are you sharing how to be reconciled to God with others? Remember, you have been appointed as an ambassador. You represent the King of heaven!
