During
a minister's prayer one Sunday, there was a loud whistle from one of the back
pews. Gary's mother was horrified. She pinched him into silence, and
after church asked: "Gary, whatever made you do such a thing?" Gary answered soberly: "I asked God to teach me to whistle... and He just then did!" Gary was whistling his praise! I wish more believers were spontaneous in their response to worship and God's answers to their prayers! King David wasn't afraid to express himself in worship with his whole being. This caused some trouble with his wife. 2 Samuel 6:16 says, "Then it happened as the ark of the LORD came into (town) that Michal ...looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart." Watching David was uncomfortable for Michal. She said he was acting undignified. So either Michal was worried about what people would think or was judgmental of David's worship style. God punished her for her sinful attitude by making her unable to bear children. (verse 23) Whatever Michal's motives, it is safe to say that SHE had a relationship problem with God. She wasn't even out for the parade in the first place, but was watching from a window. Be careful how you judge others' worship. You could find yourself condemning one of God's whistling children!
