Have
you ever had one of those weeks where everything seems to go wrong at once? The
car breaks down, the sink stops up, the kids are sick and everyone really needs
your help. Few of life's trials are more wearisome than
when they are a part of a larger pile of troubles. Given the right combination
you may begin to feel dazed like Job who experienced a cascade of trials that
would have washed most people down a faith drowning drain. But Job stood strong.
When Job heard that he had lost all of his material goods and
his children too; "...he fell to the ground and worshiped. He said, "Naked
I came from my mother's womb, And naked I shall return there. The LORD gave
and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD" (v. 19 - 20). Following this magnificent
statement the scripture says, "Through all this Job did not sin nor did he
blame God" ( v. 22). Even though Job had experienced an "unbearable"
loss, his faith remained. In chapter 2 it's recorded that his health is
taken away and he still remains strong.
Although Job may not have known the term, he was wielding the
"Shield of Faith" (Ephesians 6:16). You and I should also learn to use
it, for it helps us to deflect the devil's fiery darts. In other words,
sometimes we just have to depend on God and choose to believe. What do you choose
when you're in a 'Job Daze?' Use that Shield of Faith and brush aside Satan's
arrows. Truth is, he's a loser!
