There
is a story floating around that Police in Radnor, Pennsylvania interrogated a
suspect by placing a metal colander on his head and connecting it with wires to
a photocopy machine. The message "He's lying" was placed in the copier, and police
pressed the copy button each time they thought the suspect wasn't telling the
truth. Believing the "lie detector" was working, the suspect confessed!
How
could someone be so easily fooled?
Lack of common sense or discernment.
But what really scares me
is that sometimes I look about like "colander head."
Discernment
is very important to
simple survival. If you
can't see something coming,
you will constantly find
yourself under someone else's control.
That principle is especially true when it comes to the spiritual
world. Paul instructed the Corinthian church with these words, "But a natural
man does not accept the spiritual things of God, for they are foolishness to him;
and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised."
Satan is constantly out to fool you. If you are not spiritually
prepared, he will easily succeed. It is also true that you cannot understand spiritual
truth if you are not spiritually minded. This verse especially refers to those
who do not have God's Holy Spirit living in them. Without His guidance, you will
never understand the things of God. Pray for that spiritual discernment today,
and avoid Satan's colander.

Version unless otherwise noted.
