As
with most any household, we have our tense times. You can imagine the tension
when a crime has been committed. I'm referring to situations like "THE CASE
OF THE SOUR MILK."
We don't use much milk in our home
because of allergy problems but when it does make the breakfast table, sometimes
it doesn't get put away.
When it is discovered several hours later, the damage has already
been done. Hence,
the crime! Somebody needs to pay with at least a good tongue lashing...
but who's guilty?
Our crack investigative team grills the likely
suspects but usually has to rely on witnesses. When we find a child who
saw the milk being used
by a sibling, we can crack the case so we can humble
the guilty one into saying, "I'll never do it again!"
Witnesses are invaluable when trying to
get a conviction or get across a life-changing message. Jesus wanted
His followers to tell
others of His resurrection and message, so He reminded those with Him just
before returning to heaven,
"You are witnesses of these things." (Luke
24:48)
If we have made Christ a part of our lives, we
too are witnesses of the Risen Christ. We have a responsibility to
tell what we know.
So be a good witness, tell others what you know about Jesus. Remember
also that your actions
speak louder than words. If your actions are different than your words,
your witness will be damaged!
