The
turn of the decade, century, and
millennium is upon us. Will the lights go out or the sunspot activity greatly
disrupt our power systems?
No one knows for sure. Are you on the verge of taking on some new resolution
or fulfilling plans for this long holiday weekend? Is the food ready for New Years
Day? Are the relatives
coming? What if there is no tomorrow? The closing words of the Bible could bring you great excitement or fear. John quotes the risen Christ when he wrote "Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done" (v. 12). I don't know when Jesus is coming back but I do know that He is 2000 years closer to His return than when those words were written! As for me I am going to heed those last words. Be ready! Look up! Jesus could return before these words are clear in your mind. Here's a suggested year-end prayer... "I don't know when Jesus is coming again Lord, but I want to be ready. Show me as this year ends what You want me to do to be waiting for His coming. I echo John's words in verse 20, "Amen, Come Lord Jesus."
