My
kids are always asking for something. I think that may be part of the definition
of a child; "an immature human being that seems to always need something from
his or her parents." (my personal dictionary). Kids' needs
vary with their age. With Ben and Daniel they mostly want time from me to
fix something, play a game, help them with a toy or feed them. With the
older kids the requests range more in the areas of use of the car, taking them
places, clothes or money! I would like to be able to respond positively
to all of their requests but I have limited resources. I still love them
even when the answer is "no." Knowing that God loves
us should give us a lot of confidence that our needs will be met. Just as
a loving father would not withhold any good thing from his children (Luke
11:11), God the Father responds to the requests of His children. 1
John 5:14 says, "This is the confidence which we have before Him,
that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." I
believe that God the Father LOVES requests from His children. He
isn't waiting around looking for something to say "no" to. The opposite
is true. The Heavenly Father wants you to ask for something He can say yes
to; something that is within His will and best for you. Are
you seeking His will today? Do you desire to so know the heart of
God that whatever you ask, He will say yes?
