I buy
things on occasion over the phone and on the Internet. I have seen companies that
have mottoes like "we love our customers." I really question if they actually
"love" me since they can't even see me, but I do know that when I am dealing with
a company, one of the things that I look for is customer service. Do they
treat me like I am doing them a favor? Do they go out of their way to make
me happy, or is money the absolute controller of all activities at every level?
Actions do speak louder than words or advertising. That
is true in the life of the Christian as well as the business world.
1 John
3:18 says, "Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue,
but in deed and truth." In other words, put your money where your
mouth is. Don't just say you have the Love of God in you and then ignore
the needs of others. Jesus lived this so well when He
did things like going to the house of the tax gatherer for lunch, or touching
the leper to heal him. So often we try to soften the strain on our own souls
by opening our wallet and helping someone else to carry out the work in our place.
That can be good or bad. Question is, do we give 'till it hurts or just
give a token? Do we love others enough to serve them ourselves, or only
give? The true love of Christ and gratitude for what He
has done for us will cause us to do for others. What about you today? Does
your love for God make a difference in your actions?
