A
story is told about a man who lived through a terrible flood. Every
time he got a chance, he told people about it. He died and went to Heaven,
where he was told that he could have anything he wanted. The man said he
wanted a great hall where he could tell his story to tens of thousands.
The wish was granted.
The day came. The hall was packed. As he was waiting to
give his talk about the flood, the master of ceremonies told him he was
the second speaker on the program. He would be preceded by a man named Noah.
No matter what we have accomplished, it seems someone has always
done more. The Word says we have to be very careful about pride. Nebuchadnezzar,
the greatest world leader of his time, struggled with pride. He once said,
"'Is this not Babylon the great, which I myself have built as a royal residence
by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?'" (Daniel
4:30). Seconds later he was hearing the voice of God
tell him he was about to go insane for 7 years!
When Neb recovered from his insanity, he verbally recognized
The God of Heaven as The Supreme Being. What will it take to show you your
wrongful pride?
Jesus Christ is the ultimate example of true humility.
Read
Phillipians 2:3-11 where
verse 7 says "(he) emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant,
and being made in the likeness of men." Imitate Jesus! Be a bond-servant.
