If
you've ever read a lengthy novel with an unpredictable ending, you may have been
tempted along the way to peak ahead. Our human nature wants to know what is coming,
but at the same time, that can take all the mystery and enjoyment out of reading
the story.
We do the same thing with life, wanting to know what is coming, yet
when hard times come we might feel like we are glad we didn't know ahead of time.
We may try to determine what is in a wrapped present, while at the same time wanting
to be surprised when we open it in front of others.
As you read the end of Daniel, you find some startling and very
exact prophecies about the coming Messiah and the End Times. Then in
verse
13, God answers an apparent lingering question in Daniel's mind. It reads,
"But as for you (Daniel), go your way to the end; then you will enter into rest
and rise again for your allotted portion at the end of the age."
God says something very similar to all true believers in
2
Corinthians 5:8. If we are absent from our body, we are at home with the Lord!
If you know the Lord personally, your destiny and end are just as sure as Daniel's.
If you would rather be surprised about your end, remember this,
what God has in store for you in heaven is beyond anything you can even imagine!

Standard Version unless otherwise noted.
