The cars seemed to stretch on for miles ahead;  not unusual for mid-state Florida roads.  It isn't uncommon to have bumper to bumper traffic going at interstate speeds.  But this mess wasn't moving.  I gritted my teeth and thought about how tired I was after a day vacationing with the family.  They all could sleep restfully while I continued to stare down the red and white lights.
Occasionally the line would creep forward a few feet.  I lamented my fate, wondering why I had to put up with this great inconvenience.  I must have said, "I just don't understand!"  under my breath several times.
When we finally started moving again, I saw flashing lights way down the road.  Surely there must be some big accident ahead, I thought.  Arriving at the point where we saw the flashing lights revealed nothing.  No more flashing lights either.
When life comes to a halt and there doesn't seem to be any explanation for it, I find it frustrating.  After all, it is MY life!  "I should at least get to know why things aren't progressing!"
God doesn't promise us such luxuries.  But the Bible says, "God causes all things to work together for good" (Romans 8:28).  I am called on to trust the One in charge of the road.  The Lord, from His high view, can see all that needs seen and direct all that needs directing.  If He feels it necessary to slow me down for a while, He knows what He is doing.  Life has many slow downs and blind corners.  The one who follows God's road will get to his destination when God wants him there.
Are you following God's road today?
