Our
youngest boys have just put together a small fish tank, filled it with water and
poured in some light brown stuff that looks like floating dirt. Mixed in that
"stuff" are numerous nearly indistinguishable, tiny eggs. The instructions
on the box say that the "Triops" will hatch out in hours once the water
reaches 74 degrees.
One of the things that is so fascinating about these creatures
is those eggs can literally lay dry and dormant for years and still hatch out.
One of their relatives, the "Sea Monkey" can even hatch after being
boiled!
It is surprising what can apparently come back to life. Things
we would like to resurrect, we can't, and things we just as soon stayed dead,
revive. Paul confronted the Colossians about just such a problem. In
verse
20 he wrote, "If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles
of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself
to decrees... ?"
"Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord,
so walk in Him." (Colossians
2:6 ) By faith! Don't try for favor with God through your works or sacrifice.
