Amusement
parks are a great temporary distraction from life. You can wander into a fantasy
world and maybe even act like a kid in ways that would be embarrassing in real-life
situations. The word "amuse" is a combination word in Latin. "Muse",
meaning to think, and the prefix "a" , meaning "not." So,
to be amused is to do something that does not require thinking!
The Christian life cannot be lived that way. God has given us
a mind and the ability to understand all we need to know to have a relationship
with Him. God also knows that life is full of (sometimes) harsh realities. In
an amusement park, an attempt is made to suspend reality. Unfortunately, reality
hits you hard in the face when you have to pay $6 for a hot dog!
The depth of this Colossian Scripture passage deserves a great
deal of pondering and meditating. The reality of Jesus Christ is described in
verses
9 & 10: "For in (Christ) all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily
form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule
and authority; "These are things you must really think about to even partly
comprehend. It is reality that you have been given so much in Christ that you
are made complete in God's eyes. No amusement park here.
Ponder today how great a thing it is to know
God through Jesus Christ His Son.
