In
our children's younger years it was a constant job to keep the floor clean around
our home. I'm the only one who gets away with wearing my shoes inside (trouble
with tender feet on Legos). Bonita prefers barefoot and the children are expected
to take their shoes off at the door. If they weren't, it‘s hard to imagine what
they might track in.
One of our biggest offenders was Ben. As a toddler, if we let
him feed himself and we were almost assured of a mess. Sometimes I think he put
food on the floor just so he could come back for a snack later! One day we caught
him feeding some of his "leftover" cereal to some baby chicks we had in a box
in the house. At 12 months he understood that they ate some of the same things
he did.
People in the church make messes too, but interaction among
Christians is essential. We all need each other as a part of the Body of Christ
(1
Corinthians 15). We are to encourage and
"feed" one another the Word of God. In the process, the place gets tracked up.
Colossians
3:16 says we are to be "Øteaching and admonishing
one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs... " It's like one baby
feeding another - One Child of God helping another. Have you looked around lately
to see who you could help?
Sorry about the mess, but being a spiritual loner isn't in God's
plan for you. Having part in feeding his other children is. Sure, people don't
always take their shoes off, but interaction with other believers is worth it.
