A
recent encounter with trying to change out the engine of a vehicle reminded me
again how much I live in hope. I had been told that under good circumstances a
couple of us should be able to pull off the "little job" in a matter of 10 or
so hours. Three weeks later I was back to my old resolve of never trying anything
like that again!
All of us live with a certain level of hope that tomorrow will come,
and we believe in our minds that somehow it will be a little better than today.
Sometimes we live with false hopes that we will be delivered from our financial
trials or the difficult relationships. Hope for deliverance can help us through
very difficult times and even keep us alive.
Paul wrote of hope on several occasions. To the Romans in 5:2 he
said, "we exalt in the hope of the glory of God." Paul was, in part, making the
point that our hope is in the eternal and outside of circumstances, when we our
lives are in Jesus Christ. We have true and unending hope because God is true
and eternal. "We know that God causes all things to work together for good, for
those who love Him and are called according to his purpose" (Rom. 8:28)
What is your hope for tomorrow based on? Trust in the Lord and the
hope in Him.
