In
the movie "Men In Black", the viewer is told there are some 1,500 aliens
from other worlds living on planet earth. As the main characters stroll through
headquarters of the secret MIB organization, various bizarre and somewhat impossible
creatures are paraded before our view. Some are so alien they figure to have to
be from worlds with unimaginable landscapes, atmospheres and settings.

Peter 1:1 says, "to those who reside as aliens,
scattered...who are chosen." When Peter wrote these words to his "aliens",
he was picturing them as people who were living in countries other than where
they were born. He was also been alluding to the fact that these his readers were
aliens because they were Christians.
Today we don‘t think much about someone from another country
walking down our streets. But as true followers of Christ we live as aliens on
this earth. The Bible tells us that our true home is in heaven. In many ways we
are more like the space aliens in the movies than just the foreigners Peter wrote
to. If you are going to truly live for Jesus Christ, you are going to stand out
like a four-armed creature on a city street.
You might as well face it and expect it. In the world's eye,
the follower of Christ is a different. Don‘t try to hide it; you are also supposed
to be a "light" in this world (Matthew
5:14-16 ).
