| Several
people we know were deprived of electricity for a long period of time during the
blizzard of 2003 here in Colorado. Making matters worse, the electric pumps supplying
the water for their homes were silent. Their troubles were further compounded
by the depth of the snow; It was not just in five foot deep drifts; it was five
feet deep or more for miles in the middle of most of the side roads! It was very
difficult, and even life threatening to forge out to get water or supplies.
With the power off, tropical fish died, refrigerators did some unscheduled
thawing, cordless phones were useless, and streetlights were dark. Most of life
ground to a halt.
Paul often expressed his desire for an ever better relationship to
the Lord Jesus Christ. In Phillipians
3:10 Paul explained his motives: "that
I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings...
"
Paul was indeed a power seeker. He sought the power of Jesus Christ
in his life so the "lights would be on." He wanted to be a shining light for the
Lord. He wanted not to control people but to move them towards God. He wanted
to know God better!
Is the power on in your life? Knowing God well through His Son, and
realizing the "power of His resurrection" is essential in your service to God.
Seek the power of His resurrection!
