The
recent rescue of captured soldier, Jessica Lynch, from the hands of the Iraqis,
captivated many in the US. A crafty plan was devised to distract the Iraqis while
Special Forces raided a hospital where Jessica was being held.
None of the rescue efforts would have happened if it were not for
the compassion of some Iraqis who saw the plight she was in. It is reported that
one man walked about 18 miles to tip off the US forces as to her exact location.
That fellow is definitely the main hero of the whole story. He risked his own
life to stand in the gap for Jessica Lynch.
Paul explained how Jesus stood in the gap for you and me. In verse
19 he wrote, "For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners,
even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous."
Paul had already established clearly that we are all sinners and
unable to save ourselves. If someone (Jesus Christ) were not willing to stand
in the gap for us, we would have no hope of a relationship with God.
Your response to the Easter message is critical. Although Jesus died
for all, the offer must be received. It is not enough to just be in the crowd
as so many palm wavers were on the Sunday Jesus rode the donkey into Jerusalem.
Jesus calls you to trust Him for your salvation and follow Him today.
