I had just purchased coffee in a
covered Styrofoam cup and crawled back behind the steering wheel in our van. Not
planning ahead well, I started on the next leg of our trip, only to realize that
I hadn't transferred the hot drink to my insulated metal road cup. So, I asked
Bonita to pour it from one cup to another for me as I drove back towards the interstate.
She somewhat
gingerly held the flimsy store cup and pouring process out
over the floor. I commented
that the lid would stay on just fine and she could pour more aggressively
if she liked. With
that in mind she reached over to do the transfer over MY LAP.
I protested at that move and
she observed, "Then you really don't believe that the lid will stay on?"
She had a good point.
If I was certain the
thin plastic lid would stay in place, why should
I worry if she poured it over
my lap, hers, or the floor? I decided I wasn't THAT certain!
Paul
wrote in no uncertain terms when he said, "We know that God causes
all things to work together
for good to those who love God, to those who are called according
to His purpose." Do
you really believe his assertion?
When life's trials such as illness, tragedy, separation, financial
loss, or even death become a part of your daily life, do you believe Paul's words
with certainty? Do you believe strongly enough to trust the Lord for the outcome
and live your life accordingly? Ask the Lord to help you with your lack of faith,
and He will.
