For
many, the Christmas holidays mean visits to family or friends. Our family will
pack up and make a trek this year as always across many miles to be with family
we only get to see once or twice a year. It is a trying time because of the marathon
driving and sitting. It is also a time of blessing as we get to spend that precious
time with people we love. Make sure you cherish the visits God allows you. The Biblical Christmas story features a flood of visits. Luke 1 contains the first where Gabriel the messenger angel visits Zacharias, a man married to the Virgin Mary's cousin. Zach is told that he and his past-child-bearing-age wife, Elizabeth, are going to have a baby we later know as John the Baptist. Zach is so convinced that isn't possible, he questions Gabriel and is reproved for his unbelief (verses 18-20 ). How is your faith today? Do you expect God to do what He promises? Do you take God at His word? An angel was standing before Zach, a miraculous thing in itself, and he asks for a sign that God would do what He said. He a gave Zach the sign that he would lose he speech until John is born. You don't need to ask God to prove what He has already made clear! When you visit this year, remember most of all that Christmas is about God
