Because of the information age we live in, the very mention of a one-word name will often conjure up feelings and maybe even a picture in your mind.  Clinton, Homer, Madonna, Gracie (if you're a little older) will instantly call to mind the President of the United States, an inane cartoon character, a singer and a deceased comedian.  Try Oreo, Ritz, Tide, and Kleenex.  Each is a brand name that has almost become generic for other similar products.
When advertisers, and yes, even entertainers, choose a name, they want something that is memorable. They strive to make it a "household word" so that the mention of it is a tiny advertisement.
When God sent His Son into the world, He chose some descriptive names so we would have a better understanding of what the incarnation was all about. Isaiah prophesied the coming of a Messiah who would be "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, and Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)  God also wanted us to know that He would be "Immanuel, which translated means, "GOD WITH US." (Matthew 1:23)
To top it all off, God directed Mary and Joseph so they would name their baby "Jesus," which means "Savior." God truly wanted us to get the message without having to give it every time.
Everything is in a Name when that Name belongs to the Son of God.  Are you remembering His name this Christmas?
