I own several pairs of gloves for different
occasions. One insulated leather pair is used for heavy cold weather work. Another
pair is suited for warm
weather work as it has no warm padding. They are sleek, tan, and much more
flexible. My water-resistant warm gloves get to go skiing,
throw snowballs and sometimes hold a cold steering wheel.
Each pair of gloves has a purpose and is somewhat
unique in their appearance. However, they all have one thing in common, they don't
do a thing without my hand
inside.
Jesus observed the poor widow of Luke
21 deposit a pittance
in the Temple offering plate. Others before her and after were not only
giving more, but in Jesus day some were known to announce the size and importance
of their gift as it was
given. The widow quietly gave all she had without wanting to attract any attention.
If we choose to give our all, we need to become
like a glove on the Lord's hand. We retain our individual distinctiveness, our
place of service and use
may vary, but the Master's hand is to guide us. We don't get the attention.
I have tossed gloves aside that have become
unpliable. The Lord's use of you will depend on how pliable you are. It will depend
on your level of resistance
when He wants you to go a direction that you may not want to.
Choose today to say to Jesus, "I want to be
a glove on Your hand. Use me for Your work."
Choose to be a team player!
