Calling Dad
Recently while trying to discuss something with Bonita, my wife, my thoughts kept getting interrupted by one of our little guys saying, "Dad!"
The way my mind works, I think best when I can hear what I'm saying! I know, you're supposed to engage your brain before your mouth, but mine are troublesomely interdependent. "Dad!" in the background is very distracting.
When I answered the call, Ben said, "Daniel's not talking to you. We're just playing." Little toy people were being maneuvered round the area and something major was taking place in the play family that I couldn't follow!
I can remember doing things like that when I was a kid, but now it seems more like foolishness to me, not to mention annoying at times.
I'm glad God doesn't ever get annoyed. My wisdom and thought patterns are much lower than God's The unsaved world's are even lower. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 3, "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God.." (v. 19a)
Because of this, we should always seek the wisdom of the Lord. His wisdom is never exhausted or out of date.
Seek to know the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). Jesus never did anything foolish. Remember, "you belong to Christ..." (vs. 23) He will give you divine wisdom in dealing with your everyday problems.
Make your heart cry the same as the Psalmist's; "Teach me Thy way, O LORD!"

Sneaky Dog
Many years ago, when new in the ministry, I went calling on some folks and wasn't sure of the house location. I walked up to a residence and knocked on the door; all the while a small dog was standing near.
After finding out that I was across the street from where wanted to be, I turned only to find the dog had hold of my pant leg! The owner shooed him off and I went on.
Personally, if I had a choice, I would rather have a dog barking at me so I'd know where he was at, rather than sneaking about like that. The sneaky ones can catch you when you're not looking!
Paul warned the Philippians of the religious "dogs. He was apparently referring to the false teachers who would sneak in and try to catch them unaware. He followed that warning with one of a different kind of dog, the one inside of you!
Philippians 3:4-6 tell Paul's earthly credentials. If he had allowed himself to go that way, Paul could have bragged greatly over what he was. But that would have been a sneaky "dog"-grabbing hold. Depending on some human education over God's work in your life is a "dog" that will come back to bite you. Serving Christ means trusting Him instead.
Keep a watchful eye on the "sneaky dogs." They are out to get you. And Satan is behind them. Don't blame sneak up on you!
