Say What?
Do not adjust your glasses!! What you are about to read is copied the way it was submitted to a government welfare office.
"In accordance with your instructions I have given birth to twins in the enclosed envelope." Another said, "I am enclosing my marriage certificate with three children. One of them is a mistake as you can see when you look into it. I am writing to say my youngest son is born two years old. Why am I not getting allowances for it?"
What bothers me about those submissions is that sometimes, much to the chagrin of Progress editors, I write sentences like that! A little more proof reading would help. It's very important that the message comes across clear.
I believe God's Word in John 3:16 is very clear. It says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (NIV).
Think through those words for a moment. How does one avoid perishing? By believing in the Son of God whom God sent! We know from the Bible that the Son is Jesus Christ. Biblical believing is life changing believing. It means you copy knowledge of Jesus Christ from your head to your heart and life. If Jesus doesn't make a difference in your eternal destination, AND your life, you haven't really believed.
   Today, BELIEVE in Jesus!

The Way The Truth Goes
Getting to the truth with kids can sometimes be challenging to say the least. Everyone has their own perspective, tainted by his or her desire to not get into trouble. Sometimes it takes a bit of sloothing to really get to the bottom of things.
We were grilling Ben and Daniel recently over a small altercation. Ben made a statement and Daniel retorted, "That's not the way the truth goes!"  That's a pretty complete statement from a three year old who probably was serving up his own version too.
In spite of what the world would have us believe, the truth only goes one way. We may understand it differently but something is either true or not. The laws of physics don't apply only to those who believe them. Gravity holds those who believe in it and those who don't.
   Paul's statements in 2 Thessalonians 1:8,9
are true whether someone believes them or not. God will deal "out retribution to those who do not know God and those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus." If someone says they don't believe God punishes sin, that doesn't change the truth. If someone believes that there is more than one way to God, that doesn't change the truth that there is only one way to Heaven
and one Name, Jesus Christ, to call on to get you there (Acts 4:12).
You need to read God's Word to know and believe the truth. "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
