I dabble a bit in computers as a hobby. Occasionally I try to help out a
friend or ministry colleague by putting something together for him or her.
Recently I shipped off such a system on which I had spent many hours getting
everything just right. When the computer arrived it didn't work. At some
point in the process I had left out a couple of extremely small and inexpensive
screws. My best efforts were foiled because I was careless about a very
small thing.
Life is full of small things that can make a big difference.
If you forget to oil your sewing machine, it will eventually quit working.
If you don't take the time to glance at a gas gage, you can get stranded.
Overlooking little things can have big consequences.
In the list of exhortations Paul shares in 1
Thessalonians 5:1 we find one of the shortest verses in the Bible.
Verse 16 says, "Rejoice always!"
I have trouble always rejoicing because I don't feel like it.
However, Paul's words here imply that it is something we decide to do, not
do because we feel like it. If you leave out this aspect of your walk with
God you may start to look like you have been baptized in vinegar! There
are a lot of grim things in this world. But we have a glimpse into the next.We
know what the end is going to be. We know Who
holds the future.
Will you practice keeping track of a small thing today? Rejoice!
