With having seven children you would think we would have a collection of
piggy banks. But with concerns about space we find other things to hold
money. Our children have transparent jars with their names on them. They
contain a collection of two dollar bills and foreign money and a small cache
of cash.
Most everyone has something like a piggy bank. Figuratively,
it is the place where we keep funds of the future. For some it is a checking
or savings account. For others investments hold the pennies for us. But
the reason is at least in part the same. We want some security
about the future. We want some place we can go and get help in an
emergency.
Paul discussed giving with the Philippian believers and told
them that their offerings to him had been like a sacrifice to God. As a
benefit of their giving Paul made them a promise. Philippians
4:13 "...My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches
in glory in Christ Jesus."
Do you really want to have the Creator of the universe as the
one who will provide your needs for you? If so, you will need to heed the
pattern of the Philippians. Take part in meeting the needs of God's servants.
We shouldn't give because we will get, but we can know that
God will supply all we need if we give generously!
