Our
house is in a great deal of disarray at present. The Lord has given us an
opportunity and opened the door for us to relocate and take on a new ministry.
We were getting along great here in South Dakota and the Lord has been blessing,
but the Lord stirred our hearts and we are packing.
Packing is quite a trial in a household of our
size. There have been times recently when walking between rooms has
been hampered by piles
of boxes and sorted things. Sometimes it seems like literally and
figuratively the whole
moving stack is going to tip over if we aren't careful. I can just see it
now: Headline --"Pastor
Hospitalized by Falling Stuff." I am not sure how else it could
be explained.
Moving is a daunting task spawning fears
and fostering discouragement. There are so many bases to cover, merged
with having to say goodbyes.
The unknown people, places and situations at any new
location can make one feel alone.
God knew Israel, and Joshua in particular, might
be struggling with some of these fears as they were to finally step into
the Promised Land. Moses
said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD is the one
who goes before you.
He will be with you; He will neither fail you nor forsake you." (New
Living Translation)
I take heart in those words of truth as my
family looks ahead at the adventure of our move!
