On
most all infant "busy boxes" there are little noise makers, pictures, knobs and
a small unbreakable mirror. Babies seem to like mirrors. I suppose it is
because of liking faces. They don't have any idea at first that the one in the
mirror is their own, but it probably brings a certain amount of comfort their
way. Mirrors are not always comforting to me. When I can barely see in the morning and take a look at my reflection, I don't always find what I see very appealing. In my case my beard does cover up some of the scary stuff! When you look in a mirror, what do you see? Do you ever try to look past the surface view and peer into what others see in you? You may think I'm being a bit strange, but we should all ask ourselves, "does the world see Jesus in me?" The Bible illustrates this with Moses. When Israel looked at Moses after his visit with God, they saw a glowing face. Over a period of time, the glow started to diminish. Moses was apparently somewhat troubled by this, much as we might be by a physical deformity or flaw. More importantly, we should be concerned about how clearly the world sees Jesus when they look at us. We are being "transformed into the same image" (2 Corinthians 3:18). If you are a Christian, you represent Jesus Christ. Act and live that way! A popular song of a decade ago pleads, "When they look at me Lord, I pray they'll see You!" May that be the prayer of your heart today.
